Hi guys,
So second trip out one of the Rotors came off. Should have checked, but you live and learn. Don’t let kids help

Camera has come away, snapping the ribbon cable. Have ordered up a replacement, and will have a go at installing it.

My question is on the motor. This has separated, it goes back together, and I have seen many post about a spot of glue on the outside to hold it. However mine seems to have a scuff where the 2 came in to contact. Should I replace this also?

Thanks in advance for the advice

I sure am not going to give you advice on the part that has the skuff but i would IF it was mine.. i can help you on the prep of a flight next time out...for a safe flight UP..and back.

1 always fly with a fully charged flight battery.
2 RC unit is....fully charged.
3 lay the drone UP side down and inspect it....looking for damage...ect.
4 flip it back on it's landing gears...look over props for nicks..scratches..and use the prop tool to check for props all being snug down and NEVER overly tight...replace any prop with even slight damage...as it affects the balance of them.
5 Besure battery is secured in place look at upper and lower lock tabs...no battery to body gaps.
6 with the drone connected to rc and wifi an Go app and props at IDLE...check the app for satellite connections.
7 after lift off....houver at 4 to 5 feet and check the screen that you have established a "home point".
8 Enjoy the flight to the waiting sky's above.

I'm sure a few more OR even many things could be added to what i have told you and any one that wants to add some please feel to do so.

That very thin ribbon cable is a job to get on....google it (replacing the ribbon cable on a Phantom drone ect) and i'm sure that you will find a video that can help you.

Good Luck on your repairs and future flights !

It is indeed the Roll motor.

The one attached directly to the camera is Pitch (Controls movement up and down)
The motor holding that one on is the Roll (controls movement relative to Horizontal)
The one in the base controller is the Yaw (controls movement from left to right etc.)

The scuffs are on the Roll motor fiber stator. The way it is scarred looks like to me that the roll motor shaft or the bearing housing is bent and will probably not work.

If your going to go to all that trouble with the ribbon cable I would definitely replace the Roll motor assembly.

YouTube is your friend on video tutorials

Good luck with it.

Thanks. Ordered ribbon, roll motor and arm..

Looks fiddily, but relatively straight forward. Just need to take my time, replacing like for like.

It is a bit fiddly. Replacing the gimble parts and the cable is delicate and intricate. But not Rocket science.
I have repaired more than 10 of these for friends and associates, and probably the most important part is making sure you get the cable clamps opened and closed properly making sure that the new ribbon cable is firmly seated in the connectors and that the white painted line at each of the ribbon cable ends is flush against the connector. Also make sure you have the motor shafts properly aligned in their potentiometers.

A little patience will go a long way. When your done you'll be an expert.

Just google it....watch a few...Then go for it....pulling the thin paper off the sticky tape and securing it in place is the "Fun" part ! Take a deep breath and get er done ! you really need to buy 2 ribbon cables and when you destroy one....you will get the other one on right ! it's a trick for sure .

Cable replaced last night.. Just the motor to swap when it arrived..
Cable was not too bad, what was annoying was the use of screws. 2 types used where 1 would have done..

Just the motor now :)
