There is a free version. Only the studio version is $300. The free version is great.

There actually is a free version and it has most of the tools that the paid (Studio) version has. For most users, the free version is more than enough.

I downloaded this about 3 months ago and I can confirm that it IS free. All you will ever need to make great videos. I used DaVinci Resolve (Windows). Hoping that this answers the questions about this topic.
