CTDOT to Test (UAV) for Bridge Inspection

There was a video in my youtube feed last week about a drone that does that job and seems to do it well.
It can fly up to a vertical or inverted surface and then roll along that surface.
This could conceivably be fitted with all kinds of sensors,IR cameras or x-ray similar to those fitted to gas pipeline pigs.
A brilliant idea that could go far.

Here's a link to a story that ran in the Hartford Courant. It says they used an Align hexacopter - DOT Takes To The Air To Inspect New London Bridge
They did a much better job than the jokers discussed in this thread;
Try not to laugh $33K worth of garbage.

At least they were using a multirotor that is suitable for that kind of work.
It must have a pretty serious FPV system too looking at the huge skew planar antenna,probably 900Mhz.That would give the video feed many miles of range but heaps better for driving a signal through and around large metal structures like that bridge.

It's good to see more multirotors being used for purposes like this and to see the media seeing "drones" and reporting on them in a less sensationalist fashion.
