Yeah there are from where I am in Australia. I have been told to stay 50 meters away , but if the captain of the ship has any issue or thinks your too close he can report the drone , then it’s wether or not they can find you .

I guess that's the issue. Whether they can find you or not. This ship cones in only once a year to Foynes Ireland. I am a pretty safe UAV pilot me thinks !

I had been pulled up for flying near a refuelling depot at our local Port a few weeks before a Cruise Liner stopped in for the night , I ended up talking with the Port security , he told me a story of how someone had been flying a drone that was right in front of the Captains windscreen and also how the drone was basically flying around the deck.

So I talked to him about the rules regarding drones and ships , he was pretty good with me considering and even wanted a copy of the footage I took on the day.
