Do drones sink or float ?

Thankfully, I've never experienced it, but, as testified by quite a few here, even in post #57 of this thread, all unmodified DJI drones will sink - and rather quickly, I believe.

partly charged battery on take off, puts a big demand on the battery cells
sorry about your loss but always use a fully charged battery to start with
