I spend a whole 3 batteries taking off and landing so as to get goos at it, I have never grabbed my P3P in the air. I got fairly good at landing and I never come close to running out of battery as I have the yellow bar for the battery at 40%. My controller with my iPad mini attached is simple to bulky to hold with one hand other than for turning off the batteries on the drone.
