Much has been written about the importance of carrying extra batteries for extra flying time, but I suspect a dead controller ends most Drone sessions. So, I saw somewhere the hack of attaching both the controller and a battery to the charger but not plugging it in. The battery itself will act as a charger and charge the controller. So, my plan is to stick a battery in my pocket attached it to the controller. My question is, can I just cut the charger off (I have an extra) to save carrying that extra weight, and just have the wire running between the battery and the controller? Second question is, will the battery keep up with the current draw of the controller and how much will it extend the flying time? The Controller battery is 6000 mAhrs times 7.4V equals 44.4 Whrs, the battery 5780 mAhrs times 15.2V equals 87.9 Whrs.

Haven't tried that hack but doubt it works. How far will you be from a 12v battery? There are cheap plug-in adapters that will charge both P4 drone and RC batteries using 12v. I carry a battery jumper with included cig/acc plug.that works great. I also have an AC/DC inverter that attaches to any car or motorcycle battery, converts 12v DC to 110v AC for using the original DJI or aftermarket home charger. Lots of options if yours doesn't work out.
