Any sub $200 cases available to use with the prop guards still on the Phantom? I really want to put the Phantom in something instead of just carrying it in my hand. But with the prop guards on it's approx 20x20...and all the cases that would fit are over $300 which is simply ridiculous for a case. I am thinking of checking out a large hard sided luggage with wheels. They can be had for $85 +/- ... However, most sites list their outer dimensions and not the inner. I actually bought a Husky tool case from Home Depot that I thought was big enough ( http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-35-in-Mobile-Job-Box-222167/205053257 ) but the dimensions listed were outer and not inner. I have to take it back now.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Use the quick connect prop guards-- they work great and are a snap to put on and off

This case from Amazon will work with the props on-- but you have to remove the snap on prop guards before you put it in the case. There is ample room in the case for the prop guards

Now that you're getting things under control I would lose the prop guards and invest in more props and a balancer rod. Then you can merely spin props on/off and use a much smaller case. Plus, saves payload capacity for FPV system.

Use folding and/or remove landing gear/legs, Phantoms can slip into some laptop or courier bags/cases.

I fly over my home in much tighter quarters than yours but I do so knowing and accepting that I'm responsible for any damages my bird may cause if/when it falls from the sky hitting cars, homes, people, etc.

Thanks for the share and enjoy!

I ended up buying the quick connect prop guards (but I got them from eBay for $10 cheaper)...GREAT quality and they work FANTASTIC! http://www.ebay.com/itm/131497826851?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Thank you for the idea!!!

I much prefer the use of prop guards...thanks..and I ended up getting this case http://www.ebay.com/itm/131486779413?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT along with the quick connect prop guards. The case isn't the most heavy duty but I am not planning on taking it on any airplanes. It is just to get to & from places in my car. Same quality & look as my GoPro case. The only thing I don't like is the yellow branding the seller has on there. I may try mineral spirits or even nail polish remover to take it off...

I am VERY happy wit the direction I took. The prop guards are amazing, durable & convenient...the case is great & I can leave the props on the device while storing.

Mike,

I have the longer landing gears needed for my Walkera gimbal. Would this be deep enough to handle the longer gears?

It's 9.5 inches deep...I have the stock landing gear with an eBay gimbal and the landing gear doesn't even touch the bottom. I'm not sure how much longer your landing gear are (can't be that much more?)...

Mike,

I just measured mine and it's exactly 9" to the top of the prop nut. Do you think that would fit? The dimensions say the case is 9.5" but is that outside or inside dimension?

Look for yourself...6 inches to the top of the foam...however the landing gear ARE touching the bottom but I pushed the device into the foam a bit deeper...the photos in the ebay listing have it sitting ON the foam.
