I use Final Cut Pro X on my old 2012 MacBook Pro 13" laptop! Works fine for me, premier is also good but it's a bit more confusing to a new editor. My advice would be get the trials of FCPX, premier, Vegas (that's if your on PC) and give them all a go and find out which one you feel most comfortable.

Everyone has different opinions and we all feel comfortable with difference editing environments.

Affinity Photo is a good alternative to Photoshop and can develop RAW images.

DaVinci Resolve can do color grading with LUTs although you need to pony up for the Pro version to handle 4K video.

Premier Pro-Photoshop-Lightroom is what I use. :)

I like FCPX but found that the Apple simplicity model really sucks here when exporting to MP4/H.264/5. I now use Compressor to encode my videos from FCPX. Gives you more control than the dumbed down FCPX options.
