Battery reading according to distance

Hi all
Do you need your mobiles gps location turned on in able for the phantom to give you a correct battery reading as to how far away it is ?

Probably not. The battery reading has nothing to do with GPS and the distance is measured by your Phantom's GPS from home point.

Just that i was flying at distance then noticed that the battery was getting very low and only just got it back with about 5% left.And i must have accidently turned off the low battery go home warning cause it didn't come up.Was rather panicking to say the least never had the battery that low in flight before.
