Assistant software won't recognize my controller

Trying to update everything so I can use ground station. When I plug into my controller nothing comes up on the assistant. I have the basic controller that you have to open up to plug in the usb. Any ideas? Thanks

If you are using Windows, did you install the driver? sometimes I have to delete the assistant and reinstall to get it to work...
