Saw a Youtuber build one of these the other day and having a P3S that I bought for parts it inspired me to consider building one myself. The only parts I don't have are the gimbal pcb and the body(yet). How hard could it be right?

Cool mod but without any cooling slots and being alot heavier, I think it would cook itself to death on a hot day. Particularly the now enclosed gimbal board.

Great point. I wonder if cooling holes could be drilled or a small cooling fan could be mounted to try to get some airflow inside the body. Maybe a forced air inlet in the front and some exit vents at the back and sides. It's starting to sound like ALOT of work just to make sure it doesn't burst into flames in flight lol.

I would take a small cutting wheel on a dremel and strategically make slots simliar to the ones on a P3 shell, air flow from front to back over the gimbal first and battery last. If I could find this kit I'd get one.

I don't know what shipping from China to Canada costs but they sell these on Ebay. I left a link in my first post (that doesn't work).

I got my kit Monday and it took me about 4 or 5 hours to assemble. I am having issues with cameras on both of my Phantom 3s (imagine that) so I have parts on order.
A few things I can tell you about using P3S guts in this build is if you use P3A/P antennas you will have to swap the #2 and#3 antennas otherwise the wire from the left rear arm won't reach its connecting point.
Second, I drilled a hole for the button for binding the RC to the AC and used the original clear button for a more stock look.
And last, it seems the GPS antenna is pressing against the IMU making it a bit of a squeeze to get the top cover screwed on. I hope this will not be an issue but I am considering heating the top cover with a heat gun so it will relieve some of the pressure.
If anyone has some feedback, positive or negative let me hear ya.

Have you drilled any extra holes for cooling? I saw in another thread (and as I suspected earlier in this thread) that this mod does overheat due to lack of cooling during flight. I don't know how much of an issue this would be with P3S guts but I definitely wouldn't trust the P3P gimbal to stay cool inside that shell. See this thread: Modified phanvic kit...

HOLY FREAKIN BALLS! I may drill some holes or cut some slots but that is going a bit overboard and really compromising the ridgidity of the AC. I really don't think a P3S would need THAT much cooling, do you? Right now my biggest problem is the gps antenna pressing against the IMU and a weak yaw motor and gimbal ribbon on my camera. Baby steps.

Ya I agree that was excessive and very likely compromised the structural integrity but that being said, if it was me, I'd definitely add some cooling holes/slots.

Time to tear apart a perfectly good P3S.
Good luck to you mate. I am shelving my project, maybe indefinitely because of camera problems. I have come to the conclusion that the p3s camera is unfixable once it has screwed up on you. I absolutely will not spend any more money on this p3s when I have a p4 that is in perfect shape and in my opinion superior to it. Maybe I'll change my mind after I cool off but until then all things p3s are verboten in my house.

Phanvic. Haha, I've not seen this before but looks fun. Goodluck.
