I'm in need of suitable laptop/pc that doesn't cost a small fortune for editing my ever mounting stack of p3a footage, well over 6months worth, my asus notebook really isn't up to the job???

I would look for a i7 processor and at least 16 Gb Ram, check the Dell XPS family:

Any quad core PC or upwards with plenty of ram will do the job, laptops just arent up to it IMO.
