New P3A bought January this year. I opened an account with Airdata and I checked the signal strength score.
On 99% of the flights the sig score is 0. Best I ever got was sig strength score of 4.8

Flight time Altitude Home Distance Minor SignalErrors
A 00m 30s 35.1 ft 17 m 92
B 01m 00s 35.4 ft 22 m 84

The flights are on a beach at least 70m from any buildings.
There are no mods to the aircraft or transmitter. All flights are in an open area and I fly less than 65m horizontal distance and 200ft altitude.

The tablet I currently use is a samsung tab 2 GT-P3110 7" with a 1 ghz CPU.
Question is: is there a problem with my P3A? Is it just an anomaly with Airdata's metrics? Or slow tablet?
Any help greatly appreciated ...

Not sure... I get much higher numbers from Airdata. Actually pout if I don't get 100 score. If you could get your hands on a RF tester, you could test the output of both drone and controller to see what numbers they produce in DB. Question: You DO position stock antennas 90 degrees to aircraft right?

Yes, I realise 100 is not achievable.
I normally have the transmitter horizontal with the antennas horizontal. _='=
The last time I was out, I had the antennas at a angle. \='= Slight improvement in signal strength at 4.8
What is the typical signal score for a P3A? 50?

If I look back at my Airdata/Healthy Drones logs, I see Signal Score in range of 67 - 100, on average around 85 (and yes, 100 is achievable - I had it once, but it was by no means a far distance flight :) - Airdata UAV - Flight Data Analysis for Drones ).
I have windsurfers, but no other mods on AC and RC.
If I compare score before and after windsurfer, I can't see much difference, but usually I don't fly further than 1 km.
I think, there are too many factors in play, and because I rarely fly in the same location and w and w/o surfers, I can't judge the effectivity of wsurfers in signal score metrics.

Looks like I have a problem with my Phantom 3A then.
Has anyone got any tips, things to try, software setting etc before I contact DJI for a warranty claim?

If you tried holding the antennas straight up, then try re-linking it to controller.

Has the controller ever been dropped or bumped?

Yes, tried the antennas at an angle, 90deg, 45 deg, 0 deg etc
Controller has never been bumped or dropped.
I will try relinking the controller.

Forgot to mention, I am in the UK. Perhaps we have a reduced output here?
RC in the UK is usually at 100mW power level.

Not to the extent you say. Either the drone transmitter/antennas are bad, or the controller transmitter/antennas are bad. Possible frayed coax inside or cracked antenna wafer, or bad transmitters. But try re-linking first.

Also try this: fly the drone right in front of you, check airdata signal strength score..... When the flight was done just feet from the controller, is the score higher?

Re-linked and done 2 test flights today, signal score is 3.5
When I am stood next to the phantom the Airdata signal errors is Green 59, but when I am flying the signal errors are purple or red, about 100 errors.

Then there seems to be a issue with either the controller or drone.
RMA time.

Set image transmission to 4 Mbps and You will see the difference.
