60-Minutes just had an interesting segment about how the military is experimenting with swarms of drones (hundreds) that not only fly together autonomously on assigned missions, but also think on their own and communicate with each other many times per second regarding position and the most efficient way to accomplish their mission. In one of their biggest tests so far, one hundred small autonomous drones were deployed from 3 fighter jets traveling at the speed of sound.
