Wonderful, now Joe public can chase us down much more easily...

Anyone who has been on this forum long enough sees how eager some are to act as the local drone law enforcement. My Telemetry data will often times read greater than 400 ft even though I am less than 400 feet above the terrain or structure below. If the warehouse beneath my drone is 40 ft tall and at an elevation of 80 feet higher than where I took off, 519 ft is perfectly legal on the Telemetry data. I'd rather not have to waste Life Energy fending off tattletale cop wannabes. This is not theoretical, we have seen it happen time and time again.

Well said. I started a thread about this exact topic and it would seem as though I'm the only one on that thread who disapproves. Another Point, even people with good intentions can be very distracting. Probably 75% of my flights are paid work, and I often need to kindly deflect people away from me to focus on the job. It always chews up crucial flight time and if I am recording a video clip, I almost always have to stop recording and start from the beginning of the shot. This just provides one more distraction and increases potential for distracted pilot.

A while back a guy posted about he created a High Vis workmans vest with wording on stating his operation. Maybe you should consider such ? Easy to do ... High Vis vests are sold in supermarkets etc. Bit of black vinyl to create : Please do not distract ....... video shoot in progress ..... or something ?

Me, after opening door: "Hey'ya!"

Me: "Yup. Probably."
Joe: "I don't like it."
Me: "Okay."

Tiny ADS-B transceivers exists, but the cost is high and will remain high until the industry gets through the current mandate to add ADS-B capability to manned aircraft.

See ping2020 - uAvionix

ping2020i combines the ping2020 ADS-B transceiver with the FYXnav GPS navigation source and an integrated barometer. This all-in-one ADS-B solution is easy to install and integrates with Pixhawk Autopilot and DJI drones

ping2020i is the world’s smallest, lightest and most affordable full range, dual link Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) UAT transceiver with integrated Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) Global Positioning System (GPS) and precision barometric sensor. At just 26 grams, it assists with Detect and Avoid (DAA) functionality for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations in the National Airspace System (NAS). ADS-B IN on 1090MHz and 978MHz. ADS-B OUT on 978MHZ.”

Cost: $2,000

This and similar products have been around for a while. Hardly “tiny” but no doubt the drone makers might well find a way to squeeze the functionality in if it was mandated as a requirement by authorities.

The real point I was making seems to stand and that is from what DJI have said the ADS-B functionality in their products will be ADS-B in.

It is a thing of the age we are in. The 60's never would have allowed street surveillance cameras. There are lot's of things as liberal as the 60's was, that they wouldn't put up with, that we except. Are we progress? We all are definitely more socialistic. Set back, because it is going to happen. Informers and back stabbers are encouraged. We lost our privacy a long time ago. I lost mine, the last 3 days in the hospital. LOL I told the nurses that this was the first I literally," Hung out with 3 nurses" LOL

What hospital were you in that had three nurses available at one time? That would be a rarity in most around the country.

I lived in central Florida for over 20 years, it wasn't there. My in law live in Panama City, it definitely wasn't there after Michael. Not in Jacksonville where my grandchildren are. 3 nurses where to assist the doctor in a procedure and he didn't get there till 20 minutes later after I was prepped. The nurse felt sorry for me just laying there and said, I can't cover you after you have been prepped. That's when I made that statement. What do you talk about, the weather?

Unless of course, the local authorities are paid security via a home owners association who don’t have any real authority, but “confiscate” your drone because you might be trespassing. Hassles and long delays, maybe lawyers involved to get your equipment back. Not to mention the privacy issues (am I required to show my flight logs to prove innocence now, what if we have to show my cars log of speed and location when I get pulled over to prove I wasn’t speeding, is that ok?)
You could always open carry your Glock 17. I doubt if any 'security' guard will try to confiscate your equipment if they see you're armed. ;)
