Wifi is it from satellites?

I am miles from anywhere and I have excellent wifi signal on a no service old phone (dji Phantom 3 standard) .ls it satellites ?

No, the wifi is from the phantom.
Don't confuse wifi with internet - they are not the same, wifi is just a radio signal from the phantom carrying phantom data to/from your controller/device. you cannot browse the internet through the phantom wifi.

Yes, Paul is correct. WIFI is a signal, through that the video is fed from the drone to remote then your phone. It's like a powerful Bluetooth signal

Thanks ,good analogy .can you think why my wife can't get on the internet while I'm flying at home , her phone says phatom , dji app has never loaded on her phone ??

Phantom Wi-Fi must stronger than home Wi-Fi , next time it happens just " forget " phantom Wi-Fi on her phone , reconnect to home Wi-Fi .
