So what does it take to get a Perfect Drone and what does that mean.
We recently Picked up an account for an International Rail Way Company who uses drones to survey the Railways in the mountains
We purchased 6 Phantom 4 pro Plus Drones from Gander Outdoors which now has there own DJI department.
First thing we look for: Battery Fit. All 6 were acceptable but loose in the upper right hand corner which we fix with a better seal using the Phantom Rain Wet Suits:
Next we look at stability of the Leg Clips, and after doing the squeeze test we find 1 loose Clip with a visible crack- Return is needed.
Note: if the drone makes any cracking noise when be squeezed , its a Waning Sign for return..
The other clips we will wrap the with the Neoprene to create a nice handle for more secure 1 hand catches and to lock in the clips.
Next we fit all the batteries and check for fit and finish and were good, and all 6 pass.
Than we power up all 6 of the Phantom 4 Pro Plus Controllers where we find one of the buttons does not respond as quickly and has to be returned. Warning Sign for Return
After connecting all the Drones we Check for a perfect Horizon Level , all 6 were Perfect out of the box.
We have found that if the Horizon levels are really off on the drone on setup you should take it back and return it as its possible something happen to that drone on shipping to change the factory settings and that is not good and can lead to a very frustrating problem with having to always change the horizon setting. . Warning Sign for Return
NOTE: just because you can fix horizon levels on the fly does not mean you want to have to do this all the time. Thus Warning sign.
On start up we are looking for a Loud Beep as compared to a low beep and looking to see how many Satelites we can lock into from inside. 8 to 10 is good.. 4 to 6 is poor for us. Low sounding beep is warning sign for return. as is a low number of satellite hook ups.
The idea is when you purchase from a Retail Store you are in complete control and you can decide how much Quality Control needs to be done for your purchase.
Signing off on a good Pre Checked Drone for your business is one of the smartest things you can do.
So we strongly suggest you find a Retail Store for your purchase and of course gear up with a Phantom Rain Wet Suit to secure your drones vulnerabilities.
Will post some videos and pictures on our website soon.
