Weak link, Range and app shut down during flight

Hi,

I have my FAA remote pilot certificate and I am a videographer. I was doing drone footage for a wedding and was following a car a short distance. The image link was lost several times at maybe 500 feet away and the app DJI 4 keep shutting down causing the drone to sit in place until I reopened it. I have never had these issues in the past. I was wondering if there was an update which screwed things up?

I've never heard of an app shutting down the flight.

Yea, the app actually shutdown and I had to reopen it.

But the app doesn't fly the Drone. You do.

Ive had the dji app crash mid flight too. Takes a few minutes to restart. Although it feels like squeeky bum time I think it helps being able to fly racing quadcopters in these sort of situations as i feel less panicked and know i am able to fly it manually
