P3 Firmware upgrade by usb

Maybe a stupid question and probably discussed already but can you upgrade without removing the sd card and using the usb connection on the gimbal?
Just got my first Phantom 3 Advanced and like to upgrade its firmware. I have no adaptor here to plug in in my iMac and the nearest shop is 100 km away...
