How would the warranty work once they have gone?

I'm currently writing my PfCo manual and planned on using my original P2 as it's all I've got right now.
I've considered buying something new, but realise that the new models are out very soon (aren't they always). I'm just not in a position to waste money when the P4P may get a price drop everywhere soon.

Warranty should be with DJI, but I would buy it with a credit card to get extra protection.

I've also considered getting one from Maplin but I think they'll be some great 2nd hand bargains when the P5 comes out, and they often come with carry case, extra batteries, etc. My neighbour has a P4 that he's only flown 3 times!

Your PfCO manual might require mentioning a specific model/serial nr (to process your PfCO application) but you're then able to use a drone under 7.5Kg (or 20Kg) once you add it to your ops manual? (I think, might be worth asking CAA). I can't see they'd want a reapplication every time you add/upgrade your fleet? I'll ask my instructor and see what he says.

You will need to specify which drone you are using in your manual, but you can always add details later. Look upon the manual as a living and developing thing. As your business changes so will the manual. Your PfCO will cover you to fly any drone under 7kg but you will bed to include them as part of the manual as their individual capabilities will affect wha5 you write.

If you want the drone for work, that sounds like false economy.
The P2 is stone age by comparison and very limited in what it can do.
The P4 pro is massively more advanced and has a real camera, which presumably is what you would need to make money from your drone.
The P4 pro will still be a very capable commercial workhorse in another year.
If you have an inadequate drone now, sticking with it because a new model (with unknown advantages and unknown price) might be released (or might not) at an unknown date in the future, you'd be advised to get the P4 pro now.

In the past how much value have you placed on warranties? So often manufacturers want to step away from their obligations. If you have any worries at all DJI Care Refresh will cover pretty much anything unless you lose the hull. Meta 4 is absolutely correct though, you need a competent drone, and more importantly your prospective clients need a competent drone. If you are pressed for cash a refurb unit represents brilliant value.
