Sorry if this is old news to everyone else but I just started flying and recently found this site:
TopoQuest - Topographic Maps and Satellite Maps Online
I live in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains so there are lots of cool hills and valleys to fly around but at least with the DJI App, the AC altitude is based on where you take off.
The topographic maps showing elevations for an area I want to fly allow me to stay under the 400' AGL ceiling without too much math. I do set the max altitude setting in the app so I don't have to worry about exceeding it while flying. I check the elevation where I'm taking off and where I'm going so I can add the elevation change to my max height.
Just have to make sure I don't go too high on take off and remember to drop altitude on the way back.
