What did this guy do wrong? Why did the police confiscate it?

People complained... so the police acted.
We don't know the background.. he may have been told to knock it off previously.

It appears that as long as he wasn't operating it in a reckless/dangerous manner or under the influence.. he should be fine.

Doesn't help that the feds now have his drone though...
