Terrible news for UAV owners in Costa Rica

Authorities here are creating a 30 pages regulation document for non recreative UAV owners, including restriction areas, 120m max altitude, insurance polices, no night flights, etc, which are reasonable and like the common regulations this days, problem is they pretend to charge $6k+ per license , still not final, but not looking good at all.

But that means commercial use is legal. That sounds like great news to me! If only we had this in the US!

non recreative UAV owners is me, and anyone else flying strictly for recreation and hobby. Exempted. Looks like they're going after the commercial users.

Sorry, my mistake, was in shock, just re-read article, seems regulations and license apply for all kind of UAV so far, when this gets clearer will update info.

I would even venture to say Costa Rica is far ahead of many other countries, including the U.S. on this. Kudos!

in mexico its the same.

if your drone is less than 2.5kg you cant fly:
9.2 km from an airport
900 meters from an heliport
at night
but as long as you have an insurance policy you are free to use your drone for commercial use
