I was thinking of buying a ten-inch tablet for use with a Phantom 3 controller. Would this size be too unwieldy?

I have a 10 inch Nexus and it's too big for the tablet holder and
I think it's too big for ease of use.
It's a lot to have hanging over your controller.
I use the Nexus 7 inch and it seems perfect for me.
Big enough but not too big.

A 10" tablet is slightly unwieldy, but nothing you can't get used to. I really like the large pic on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 10.1". It's not like you're doing a lot of gymnastics when controlling the drone.
Your Tab 4 is not one of the devices that DJI says is supported to work with the Pilot app. Are you using it straight out of the box with a P3P?
No, sorry, using it with a P2V+ V.3. Don't know whether it's recommended for that model either, but it works fine.
