Simple to test for yourself.
Zip around in sport mode and see your battery sink faster than in other modes.
it's fast and fun but not very economical.

Its not really any different than driving your car. The more heavy footed you are on the gas pedal the more fuel you burn. The more throttle you give the bird the faster the battery will drain.
All those fast jerky moves that you can do in sport mode the more power is needed to keep it under control. Flying gently,the smoother the flight the longer you can fly.
