Looking for advise to do a shoot for a real estate client who wants to create a 3 point cloud. Is it true that drone flight paths to create 3 point clouds are most effective when they criss-cross over the site? Are these best shot in 4k? And finally, does the p3pro have to be programmed (like waypoints) to make it all work or can it be flown manually? lots of questions here. thanks in advance.

Crisscrossed flight paths aren't required to generate 3D point clouds. And it's not video, but a series of still photos that you will need to capture. What you do need a a combination of overhead and oblique shots so that you can properly render the top and sides of buildings. In principle, you can fly manually, but much easier to set up a mission using an app such as Map Pilot or Drone Deploy to capture the individual photos. You will then need a program or use a service such as Maps Made Easy or Pix3d to render your point clouds. There's a pretty good learning curve to get to the point where you can produce marketable 3D point clouds. Suggest you do a search on the forum for other '3D' threads. And, of course, taking photos for this purpose requires a Part 107 'license'.

Thanks for your reply. I am certified and insured with a Cdn Complex Standing certificate (SFOC) but am not knowledgeable on this 3d point cloud tech. The client indicated he wanted video... and he would do the post work. Am looking further into this. Be back to you on this as i learn more. Appreciate your time.
