Yes. It does look very close. But truth be told, I think things look closer to the drone than they appear maybe due to the WA lens. Definitely too close for comfort but I still think maybe not that close. It was programmed to be 27 ft altitude. And my takeoff point was probably 4 or 5 ft above water. I know the barometer isn’t always pinpoint accurate, it doesn’t seem to me that sapling is 30+ ft high. I’ve flown out over the treetops from my house on a hill and in the camera view it looks like I’m very close but I can look at the bird and see plenty of daylight between it and the trees.
But I have to tell you... there was plenty of pucker as I reviewed the video. This was a programmed mission and the AC was out if contact so I didn’t know this happened till I got home and reviewed the footage. Even though I knew how it all ended (he came back) I puckered as he headed for that sapling. Funny thing is I ran the mission twice and it did the same exact thing. Interestingly enough I ran this mission last fall with the P3S and didn’t seem to have that near miss. Flew a bit to the right of it. But if I fly it again, I’m going to add several feet in that area.
