Repairing gimbal yaw arm and top shell, also can't connect to DJI Go app

Hello all,

I recently took a gamble on purchasing a crashed phantom 3 standard. The yaw arm is broken in half and the ribbon cable severed. Additionally one of the arms near the end has the threaded insert pulled out of the top shell. Finally the bottom vibration damper mount has a cracked corner. Ordering a replacement vibration damper mount, and yaw arm is easy enough. I know everyone says to use OEM ribbon cables but I'm having trouble sourcing that part. Finally, I can't for the life of me find a reasonably priced top shell. It seems the pro/adv top shell is much easier to find. Does anyone have advice or recommendations on how to proceed?

Finally while evaluating the drone it powers on fine and arms ok, spinning the motors without the props. I haven't had a chance to try flying it yet because of the weather here in Philly. However one thing that is concerning me is that I can not for the life of me get the app to connect. I have tried my pixel 2 XL and my old oplneplus 3 and both connect to the wifi fine but the app still just shows a how to connect screen. Unfortunately the only iOS device I own is an ancient original iPad and the go app crashes on it. I have tried with the gimbal board connected and disconnected to no avail (obviously the camera is not connected because I haven't replaced the ribbon cable yet)

Is this expected behavior? Will the app not connect without the camera? Or is my damage somehow deeper than what can be seen visually?

I have attached some pictures, don't mind that the ribbon cable is missing from the base, it was there when I got it but I pulled it out when I had the case open, there is no damage to the connector on the gimabl.main board.

Thanks,
Jason

Do you have a part # for the ribbon your trying to source?

The app should load up even if you don’t have a P3. The gimbal gives video and telemetry. The P3 can fly without the gimbal.
Thanks for your response. I had given up on the app thinking that it was an issue with the gimbal board. But because your comment I looked into it and using the pixel 2 XL with is a known issue and putting the phone in airplane mode works as a workaround. So I was able to connect
