Possible to switch between GPS and ATTI during flight ?

After few times test flying under GPS waypoint mode, I want to know if I can change the height or direction when flying along one waypoint, in case I observe the tree in front is taller than the preset waypoint height ?
Something like starts with GPS mode waypoint, then switch to ATTI (flip down S1) for manual control to raise the height, when the high tree is over, flip S1 to top posiiton and back to GPS guided auto waypoints flying until mission complete ?

I tried it ... doesn't work ... Once you flip the S1 switch out of waypoint ... it doesn't return to waypoint by switching back to GPS

So, worse comes to worse, if lost control after switching from GPS to ATTI, do I have the option to call it Home automatically, as long as the GPS signal is sufficient ?
