Saw this article in the San Jose Mercury yesterday about a novel use of "drones". in this case a P2V+. I'd love to see a lot more of these!

Great article! I think the uav's are great for counting any kind of livestock especially those critters that are constantly on the move. The overlaid grid is a good idea.
