hello all, the other day I was at the park with my grandkids, and I was going to fly my phantom 3 standard, there are about 3 or 5 small trees, they are not even 6 feet high yet, its a nice location to fly, nice big area, to fly in, there are some swings there. a slide, and other things for the kids to play on, anyway, was ready to take off and fly then I saw on my phone where it shows ready for take off it said MAGNETIC FORCE do not fly, would all that playground equipment be a big problem. so I did not fly it there, but I thought I was far enough away from all of the play ground items, for me to take off, and fly, any advice, would be nice,

There could have been an underground electrical cable, or water or sewer pipe. I have also found issues while taking off and landing on a cement slab, something about the wires they put in it.

I use to do more metal detecting than I do now. You would be surprised all the electric lines in the ground. My detector would loudly let me know. There were so many in a park in Orange City, Fl. I wouldn't let my kids play there. Big stuff. Couldn't be healthy for the kids. It could be your case? Some playgrounds have left over metal from old swing sets, besides nuts, bolts and bullets are a common find. Then, it just might be a big gold chain sitting under your quad. Lol

I am still an avid metal detector hobbyist and Rootman is correct. One thing I find is metal can be anyplace. we didn't always have trash cans on the corners of our streets or in our parks, not that everyone uses them, but it was once much worse. I find stuff from the 1700s regularly. no matter if a place has been cleaned up and some new park or playground was now on the site there is always something left behind. one of the big jokes in the hobby is hearing someone say that area is picked clean. that's far from true what's happening is one guy uses this setting another uses that setting and finds stuff the first guy didn't. it also has a lot to do with the detector being used coil size and the users ability to decipher what the machine is telling him I've found gold rings coming right behind guys who swear they got everything. Just keep in mind your issue can happen anywhere you did the right thing and didn't fly. sometimes moving over only 1 foot will make things better , sometimes you have to find another area completely. Magnetic force would imply underground lines to me. but there are many metals that have magnetic pull and will attract other metals so you never know. Best of luck

Smart decision. Why risk it? I'm sure some guys would have flown anyway.

I've seen the same warnings in the middle of a soccer field. I go back the next day and everything is just fine.
