my mate we flying at the coast last week at evening time and apparently the red light on his TX went red and he lost sight and sound of his P3P, he guessed that it had gone into the sea and we gone but next morning at low tide he found it camera hanging off, battery lying at the side so that was it he emaild me about it and said he would be looking for a S/H P3P as he had 3 batteries and the TX, but today he wrote again with this.............
I had an idea today ref my sodden P3. The company called TFix who sorted my Tx, specialise in repairing drones, in particular DJI drones. So I dropped them an Email today with the details of the dunking & hopefully they will reply tomorrow. I suspect they will say send it to us and we’ll see the extent of the damage.
has anbody ever flown a P3P after dropping it into salt water??

Many have and it is bad news. It may fly at first if dried well. The salt will eventually destroy everything.

This is true. However sometimes it will work assuming the prts are replaced correctly. If the repair shop offers warranty, it would be in your best interest to take it, as salted parts have a higher chance of failure. Also, discard the battery that went in the drink. It’s toast, no matter how well it appears to work.

I would say If there is ANY chance of repairing it after a night in the ocean would be to rinse it completely out with fresh water (minus the battery) and let it completely dry before sending it off for repair.

The bad thing about " faucet water " is that its full of minerals and all that crap with get inside the many connectors and make things Worse......run it the thru the dishwasher with water softener added and set it in the sun for a few days.......ever seen the spots faucet water has made on the counter top... after its dryed UP and all the minerals that has made BIG white Spots ? The Best Of Luck to you .

AND.....if you can remove the top shell and run it thru the dish washer....its even better !

Dishwasher with softener ?

Softener in fact does nothing about the minerals in the domestic water - what it does in fact is place 'softening agents' called 'fillers' into the spaces of clothes fibres.

Domestic water is fine if you do not have Distilled Water at hand - IF you do it immediately recovered because OXYGEN in the air combined with the Salt water is the killer. But the corrosion process already started before extricated from the sea ... for two reasons : Battery still in there and also the oxygenated water near the beach line.

The best washing medium is actually straight VODKA or any clear Spirit.

But the sad news is : regardless of what you do - the odds are its wrecked. I have lost many items in salt and brackish water - and every single electronic item has been scrapped as useless.

I wish luck though ...

Nigel

thank you all for replying, I'll pass the info on to my mate (he doesn't use forums) I do as I usually find the answers I need.
I've only ever flown over the sea once but will not make a habit of it, I know it's crazy because if it comes down over land it's a write off anyway.
thanks Ray
