Only getting 200 metres

A bit disappointed only getting it up to 200m and then it comes back down. Using a sumsung 3 lite it says
it out of range,hope its not the P3S. Is it the app or should l use a ipad instead.

Neither the tablet or the app have any influence on range.
Antenna orientation is the most important factor.
How's your antenna aimed?
If you're going straight up like your post suggests .....

You should be getting about a kilometer in the stock form. Are you flying in an urban area with lots of radio 'noise'? What position do you have your TX antenna?

No l was about 40ks from town, no houses out in the bush in a big open area

No l was about 40kms out of town no houses people, just a big open area, next to a big dam
that supplies our town with water

And yes l was in away going straight up and at one stage l was about 100m in front of me[ still about 200m up in the air] and it still wanted to return home.
