In April of 2015, I purchased a P3Pro and Nvidia Shield K1 tablet. This combo worked great over this time frame until I recently crashed the machine due to nothing but pure and simple pilot error! No, I will not go into that..
In an attempt to sooth the wound slightly, I purchased a refurbished P3advanced from the DJI store. Using the same tablet, I commenced flying again only to find that the latency on the video was so bad that it really was unusable.. By this I mean the video on the tablet screen. The aircraft control was fine but the video would drop out completely at around 1200 feet away and may or may not come back as I returned to home. Needless to say, the recorded video was perfect. So I consulted with the DJI support and was told to relink the system???? No help..So then I linked the new aircraft with my old P3Pro RC and tried it but with the same results. I even tried to fly the unit with my Motorola Droid Turbo phone but got the same results with the downlink video. Again consulted with support via email and this time I was told that neither the Nvidia Shield nor the Droid phone were approved devices for the P3 machines???? And there was nothing I do could expect buy a different tablet. I specifically recall inquiring about the Nvidia shield back when I bought the P3Pro and was told that it would work fine. It never failed to perform with my P3Pro. I have searched the DJI site for a list of "approved" devices but so far have not been able to find that data.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some obscure setting I may have missed? The issue seems to point to one of two devices, the aircraft or the tablet. But this tablet seems to have a history. Also all apps and firmware is up to date.
I would appreciate any advise or any good reports with this tablet.
I can only return this thing for store credit but why would I buy another DJI P3 device?? I am sort of between a rock and a hard place as I own five batteries!!!
Enough crying but I would like to hear about Nvidia Shield experience...Good or bad.
