Pretty fancy, he will end up incorporating a gimble even if it's built in, the wind has a lot of tricks up its sleeve.

I think it's just a concept right now. Must be doing something fancy to get away with just 2 props as well.
The drone is the gimbal. A quote from the story...
"Gone is the usual quadcopter-style four-propeller design, the drone's two carbon GlideLite propellers function in
both vertical and horizontal positions and work together to give steady footage, eliminating the need for a gimbal."

Sounds good. I suspect their first flight with their prototype in the wind will be a real eye opener for them.
It's the future man!
Here is a clip from a video game released last year... I bet they are not far off.
The clip has a few different UAV's in it.
Is this actually Tesla R&D or just some guy putting the name on it like conceptual artists do with Apple's trademark.

So this probably has less chance of being made than the Musk's conceptual bullet train that is actually being attempted?

This is a very long way from ever flying.
It's just a dream from a guy that doesn't know how flight controls work.
How is it going to fly forwards with two propellers when there's no way to tilt them.
And the tiny battery size shown looks like it would struggle to lift the machine for 30 seconds.
The "designer" needs to buy a Phantom and learn how they fly before he does any more flying machine doodles.

I'm conviced; Elon Musk is from the future. If anyone can make this concept real, it's him. And I bet Jeff Bezos is berating is his design team at this very moment.
Yes - saw this come out a couple of weeks ago and was at first "hey this is interesting" then read it and realised it's just like what many other people do with Apple concept designs - it's a concept only

The more you look at it, the more you see how little effort the "designer" has put into this.
It's just some fantasy doodle-art with slick computer rendering and a Tesla logo slapped on.
He has no idea if/how it will fly.
No idea of if/how this design is an improvement on existing technology.
No idea of the engineering required, flight controller, weights or any other detail that matters.
He has no idea how the horizontal/vertical orientation would work or what it does - it just looks cool.
There's no hint that he has any idea how to achieve 1 hr flight time and the size of the battery in his illustration relative to the very large size of his aircraft suggests it has no chance.
His carbon GlideLite® blades are just more fantasy. There's no such thing and he's put no effort into the design or practicality - they just look and sound cool.
It has nothing to do with Tesla. He's just put that logo on in the hope that it gives his doodling some credibility.
He may as well be doing artwork for a Star Wars movie
