One test that I have not seen done anywhere yet that would be helpful to me is taking the identical dng image and short 4k clip with the pro and the zoom at 48mm (with no digital).

I would like to then crop the pro's imagery to match the zoom at 48mm and compare the results.

If you guys have opportunity to do that when you get yours, it would be appreciated!

The same thought went through my mind. With equal optical quality and sensor performance the optical zoom should win out. If we assume the full available 4:3 and 3:2 sensor widths are employed in producing the 4K acquisition (we might assume it is given there is no appreciable loss in Image width with 4K compared to stills) the 48mm native image will be around 30% better on outright native sensor resolution. It might be the 1” sensor and associate electronics + optics will more than make up for it though.
