Maps loading in Chinese

Not sure what I did, but somehow my maps are now loading in Chinese and I can not zoom in to my area.

Any thoughts on a fix.. I know I went through this before, but not sure how I fixed it...

I'm very interested in a solution also as my map loads in Chinese on my Kindle Fire HDX. That would be okay as it will find my current position but after zooming in to a couple hundred miles across the screen, it goes blank. I have loaded google maps on the kindle and even bringing up the map beforehand doesn't help.
