Hi Guys!

I'm a new member here, so forgive me if this already have been asked somewhere and answered already. I have used the search function, but can't find any information about this:

Does anyone know if there is any possibility to watch the video stream/live view from the Vision+ on your laptop? As far as I know, there is no app/software for PC yet, but maybe some "hacker" knows if it might be possible to send the video stream from your phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) to your laptop, or even connect the laptop to the PV2+ WiFi and fetch the video stream in some way? It would help me a lot when Im shooting video for my customers, so they can get a better look and give me input of what they want.

Thank you in advance!

I've not tried this myself, but you could attempt to do this using Bluestacks (android emulator) and installing the DJI Android app.

I tried bluestacks but couldn't get it working. The phantom wireless was being recognized as a internet connection and not as the phantom connection (the blue or green dot in the app).

If you get it working, please share how.

Aha, that sucks :(

Well, I will try it out too and see if I can figure out if it is possible to get it to work.

The ground station seems to show the live feed, at least in the videos that I have seen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULPw-sTEQXM), but I can't find DJI themselves mention it anywhere on their information page (http://www.dji.com/product/pc-ground-station/feature).

And even if GS have the live feed, I still don't know if it is possible to have the video stream in full screen view, or if it is only the tiny window like in the video. If so, Im not willing to buy it....

So.. Based on that I'm assuming the PC ground station application is a completely different animal, and is not compatible with the "vision ground-station" like we have built into the vision app? I was under the assumption they were one in the same...

EDIT: Never-mind, just read through the manual, WAY WAY better. Going to have to buy one of these.

But this is meant for use with non-vision systems as well. If there a video input I'm missing somewhere, how do you get the live video feed from a non-vision phantom2 I mean I don't see anything in the manual about connecting a camera...

I posted this just yesterday in another thread. This first link near the bottom of it's page shows what was used: http://skypixel.org/post/87844495874

This link shows the video stream in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZZFnlgCV0I

I know you said stream to laptop, and this info should help you achieve what you are wanting to do. Hope it helps.

Hmm, I should maybe have specified to a laptop with Windows OS and with an android phone :) I guess this won't work unless you have an iPhone/iPad and a Mac laptop?

Do you know if DJI are planning to release some software for live streaming full screen video to PC?

You don't need all that gear to do it, you can simply connect an iPhone to the Phantom's wifi, and connect a Macbook to the same wireless network. Open up the Vision app on the iphone, and start some Airplay-receiver software on the Mac like Reflector or others, then you just activate Airplay Mirroring on the iPhone. If you have the option to hide the toolbars in the Vision app, you'll see just the video feed on the Mac as you want. I do it all the time.

Yeah the link I gave is all pretty much apple. Not idea about DJI but I would this would come from a 3rd party before anything else. I have been watching for this same thing for some time now. It does appear that we're getting close to having a option soon.

Sweet tip. Just tested and this works great. You can use Reflector on windows too but you do need an iphone or ipad for this to work.

Just saw the part about Windows / Android. Well, you can do the same thing using this kind of software https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... reenstream

I tried this. Didn't work at all on a couple iPhones (I use Android, but I am aware of the fact that the entire world isn't as enlightened as I am.... yet ;D) and wasn't quite what I was looking for in a stream when I got it to work (albeit haltingly) on a laptop. The app seems more designed for extremely limited desktop sharing during presentations... a la powerpoint or some such.

I'd like to see some sort of Android solution too... it'd be nice if the people I'm with could also access the live stream from the drone. They might see something that I don't notice.

STOP IT. It is illegal !!!
Having your customer looking at the laptop is illegal!. FAA already made it clear that any commercial flight of RC quadcopter is illegal and is prohibited !!!

But this must be only in the U.S. right? I haven't heard that it would be illegal in Finland where I live....

Let's be clear. It's against current FAA policy, it is not against Federal Law.
FAA Regulations for UAVs (and other RC devices) are expected to go through a legal process for becoming actual regulation, but not until 2015. In March, the FAA lost a high(ish)-profile case from 2011 that started this whole back and forth. (The FAA is going to appeal, but that's neither here nor there, for now).

In my second source, you'll see a quote that seems to negate everything I've said. But someone in their comments section pointed out the careful wording, and the FAA's actually definition of terms. The government LOVES to use very broad-sounding words that sound very scary in a quote or sound-byte, but if you trudge through the veil, you'll notice the words they use are being legally redefined within that context (the IRS is famous for this, by the way).

This isn't an encouragement to go hog-wild and fly the Phantom anywhere you want, obviously - the more we, as owners/operators, prove that we're capable of handling these things, the better chance we have at having sane/rational regulations if it has to come down to that - but knowing your rights and the limits of three-letter agencies is important to be fully aware of.
