bought my P3S for xmas. I have it 3 hours ....mostly using Letchi and programmed waypoint missions. Watched the YouTube tutorials and even paid for some phantom classes. I suffer from acrofobia...afraid of heights ...can't even watch a movie at times with high altitudes ...

When flying a mission or manual I really get scared ...shaking... nervous.. and at time panic. Had a letchi mission end at waypoint 6 out of 12 and really lost it.... another one where I added a waypoint when redoing a mission...without nowing it and panicked. I've learned to initiate RTH and it works every time BUT still saking like crazy.

Anyone else have this problem and how have you overcome???

Thanks much ....

You have to have faith in the machine! Let rolling the dice. Just do your pre fight check list and calibrate everything and make sure your home point is correct and return home height is correct. Then have fun!!

@Len Fogel

Anyone else get woozy when they see their drone up high??

I have had Phantoms since January 2015
I lost a P2V+ in July 2015, never found it.
I have a Marco Polo tracker, if it is not ready, then we are not flying.

Had a P3S since August 2015, it did make it back on a RTH, wind, ran out of battery.

I have just got brave enough to buy and use Litchi, I'm really surprised your trying it that soon, but anyways that's me.

Yes have fun, more time, it gets easier.
Read the threads, lost, crashed, etc.
Learn from others telling there mistakes.

As soon as your too confident, is when you make a mistake.

Stay away from trees, they don't move out of they way, and they usually win in a fight.

Airtime. And I might suggest that you run some manual (non waypoint) flights. Just fly the thing around in GPS mode. Might build some confidence. Esp confidence in taking over manual control if an automated mission goes awry. RTH is good. But someday you'll need to fly it. If you're confident you'll worry less is my guess.

I too suffer from the same phobia as you. Over the years I have learned to face my demons and now the fear is more from falling than it is of heights. As long as I feel in control or have a firm grip on something like a railing, I am fine. I can now enjoy flying my drone because I know I am firmly planted on terra firma.
I know it's easier said than done, but keep at it and you too will overcome this!

Yep, had an accident that almost killed me (broke my shoulder which lessened the impact to my head). I do Astronomy and even aligning my telescope can make me very dizzy. Tends to happen when I'm looking upward > 45%. I can walk trails that have 400' drops and looking down doesn't bother me, even looking up the cliff is ok, but when it comes to all sky I lose my balance. Never had this before the accident.

Maybe my brain just works funny but I have found the more I fly, the less I worry. Not because I'm getting better at flying, but because I feel that every time I have a successful flight I'm earning more and more of my money back from my investment. It's like going to a Casino and planning to lose $100. If I lose that $100 in the 1st 10 minutes, I'm pissed, but if I get to play for a few hours I feel I've gotten my money's worth. Each time I fly my $600+ drone investment, the more I feel like I'm earning my money back. When I 1st got it, I was scared ****. I think it was last flight recently when I said to myself, If this thing flies away right now and never comes back, I think I've gotten my money's worth.

That said, I'm not going to be careless. If I'm break even now, I'd like to turn a profit!

Yours sounds like the related to inner ear?

I get dizzy looking down, large drop offs, standing on scaffolding near the top of a three story house. Top of 24' - 30' ladder when your coming from the roof. Once the Aluminum extension ladder shakes, there go the knees, and the ladder and I rattle all they down.
