Just a note, both the FAA and Governor of NC have sent out strong warning banning UAS use in Disaster areas, even if there isn't a TFR. I'm getting inundated by insurance people looking for pilots, but who knows how long it will be before it is obvious that we can legally fly. I"m not sure if they can really ban us without TFR's, but I personally don't plan on pushing it with the FAA or law enforcement.

If they can?

A TFR is a flight RESTRICTION and if you fly within it without ALL of the proper credentials you could face jail time in addition to confiscation of your equipment and a hefty fine.

Anyone wanting to fly in NC for hire must have Part 107 AND the NC DOT sUAS Permit

Keep in mind that once a Disaster Area is declared lots of "rules" can be put into place very easily. NC was declared a Disaster Area on last Wednesday so think of it like "Martial Law" for the time being.

My county was declared a Disaster Area 90 minutes ago so this should be interesting as it's a BEAUTIFUL day here so far.

Actually I can understand the motion: if DJI hasn't lifted the corresponding NFZ-s, and there is no internet in the affected area (which might well be the case), the bird might be grounded.

OTOH I'd never roll back my firmware, which I think they need for the trick to work.

Several new TFR's go LIVE tomorrow in various areas of NC in addition to the existing long term Disaster TFR 20NM of ILM SFC-5K.
