At 60,000' a 747-400 is at its max altitude.

Above actually. More like 45,000'. Highest I've flown in one was 41,000'.

You are correct, I looked it up, serviceable ceiling is 45,100', but is that the Max?
When I crewed Copter's our serviceable ceiling was the max altitude where we could hover, (land and lift off) and max altitude was that altitude we could reach using vertical lift from the stabilizers at 200 knots.

Yes it is the max at GW only, 0 kg load. B747-400 can't flight straight to FL410 because in normal op condition fuel+load+cargo do not permit and climb to FL290 for first part of the flight. In the last part of the flight it can go cruising more then FL410 without problem and this can happen, normally, in NAT (North Atlantic route) routing.

Done 500m (1650 ft) a few times. I don't even stress about it anymore as this machine has been so stable. I just RTH and let the drone do the work.

I really would love 1000m !!!
