Port Island (or Chek Chau, Chinese: 赤洲) is an island of Hong Kong, under the administration of Tai Po District. It is located in Tolo Channel, in the northeastern New Territories. Its name literally means red island; after the sedimentary rocks rich in iron that form this island.
Port Island has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1979.[Source: Wikipedia]
Hung Shek Mun, Hong Kong
Also known as the 'Red Rocky Shore', Hung Shek Mun acquired its name because of the striking red tone of its shoreline which is composed of rocks of various forms and gradations of red colour. Located at the southern entrance to Double Haven, this is a real unique area in Hong Kong
The lands around the channel are also called Lei Yue Mun. On Kowloon side, it is famous for its seafood market and restaurants in the fishing villages.[1] On the Hong Kong Island side, it has former military defence facilities.
