Global Warming? Naw, Wyoming is blessed

My unit is pretty much parked so I will be mounting a dish to a post. I am aware of the RV versions and they are nice, but pricey. I guess my question is can I receive the signal in two different locations or is that not allowed? Or maybe there is an extra fee? I suppose I should call them to see. What is the general consensus as to the best provider? Dish?

If you only use one at a time, not a problem to just take your receiver with you to the other location. Other wise you will need two receivers. If both on at same time need to check with provider. I have Dish here and like what they offer. Also a ton of other programming with my FTA dish farm.

Hey TJ,

You'll be able to get Satellite Internet and we can bug you ALL THE TIME.

The new RV dishes don't need to be manually adjusted. :D

Don't laugh, I have looked into satellite internet since that is my only option there but it is REALLY expensive & you buy your own gear. I'll stick to my unlimited data plan on my iPhone. There is free satellite internet offered to site holders but it is deathly slow, about 1mbs on a good day.

A couple people have their own satellite internet that stay there but their work pays for it.

Is FTA worth it on its own?
Well, all the programming you get from your cable company is not be available. There is other programming that can be received.

I was well over $200 a month cable bill so we cut back about a year ago. I now have the basic Time Warner offers and that is going up again so I am done. I will keep their cable service as it's the fastest in town and I have an ultra-fast wide band connection. I also use Hulu, Amazon Prime & Netflix so I should be able to cover our needs. Neither my wife or I are big TV watchers anyways, just a few select shows. Dish would be nice if I could use it in both locations. I don't mind getting a second box, how does that work? Is there a card you can pull and insert in the second box? I have never had any kind of dish tv.

My Hopper receiver from Dish has a card inside but I would think you would have one for each receiver. That was one hell of a big bill.
How far apart would your two locations be?
I will ask a Dish rep that I can get in contact with and ask about your two location problem. May take until later Monday for an answer.

They are about 100 miles apart. 2 cards probably comes with 2 bills. :(

We've got 48 & 50.

You guess which is wind and which is temp.

I have DirecTV and prefer it over DISH. I had Dish for years, but got really tired of their fights with providers all the time. Plus they kept raising rates for long time subscribers so I junked it. I had a Fifth Wheel RV during the changeover. I had two receivers (about $5/mo for the second receiver). I also paid the $5 for a receiver for my Mom's house about 75 miles away. I often took the RV over 250 miles away and had perfect reception (of course I had to manually tune the dish each time, but not difficult.) You don't get your local stations when you are "remote" - beyond the spot reception area. I also did the same thing when I switched to DirecTV and it worked the same way.

Be sure and tie a rope around Dirk Jr.'s ankle so he doesn't blow away! :o

Thank you everyone that has replied to my dish TV questions so far.

TJ,
My contact with Dish stated anything that far away would need another account. But as many have done that none of the providers will mention is if you only need TV at one location at a time, take your receiver with you and it will work fine.

Thanks Happy. I kinda figured they worked that way. I think I am definitely going dish of some sort, now to figure out which service provider to use.

Well, yesterday 73, today 57 until the wind blew in 34 degrees with SNOW

Dirk Jr. can't blow away, he's getting too fat for that. He's King of the Hill, being the oldest.
We're getting like 5 calves a day from the Heifers.
Might be a good year. :D

I'm betting this guy wishes he had waited another week or two to come out of his hole.
It was in the 50's when I took this today, and now... expecting more snow.

Anyone know what this is?
I've got a picture of real tiny frogs that live on top of the mountain too.
