Hi Good Evening

I was wondering if you could help me with some advice. I have brought my DJI Mavric Pro out to a platform with me to take some pics before I leave. The oim has given me permission for this however today when i tried a flight the drone went all over the place and was very problematic and i was lucky enough to get it back to the helipad. Can you give me any advice as to what it is in doing wrong or what settings I may need to use.
I have used this drone for months without any problems.

I would really appreciate your expert advice
Many Thanks

Phil Hodgson

Take off from a steel platform really messes up the compass. I doubt there is anywhere on an oil rig you can take off from without these errors.

I'm not saying it will work, but try to find a high place made out of wood or plastic. Do you have a pile of cribbing / dunnage? A wooden structure: shed, platform, roof(not metal).

I have seen loads of videos on you tube of footage from oil rigs any idea how they do it
The problem is that if you launch from the steel deck, the compass is just an inch away from all that steel.
You have to get it higher.
Hand launch from as high above the steelwork as you can.
