Files names when bracketing

I asked this in the DJI forum, figured it best to also ask here...

I looked through the app and manual and I could find an option to change the file naming so I'll ask...

Is there a way ti change the way files are named when taking bracketed photos? It's sometimes very difficult to tell where one set of bracketed photos starts and ends.

Rather than having to go through hundred of files named:

DJI_0001.JPG
DJI_0002.JPG
DJI_0003.JPG
DJI_0004.JPG
DJI_0005.JPG
DJI_0006.JPG
DJI_0007.JPG
etc... and not knowing which files are single images and which are part of a bracket set.

It would a lot more helpful to have them named like this:

DJI_0001.JPG
DJI_0002.JPG
DJI_0003-01.JPG
DJI_0003-02.JPG
DJI_0003-03.JPG
DJI_0003-04.JPG
DJI_0003-05.JPG
DJI_0004.JPG
DJI_0005.JPG
DJI_0006.JPG
DJI_0007-01.JPG
DJI_0007-02.JPG
DJI_0007-03.JPG
DJI_0008-01.JPG
DJI_0008-02.JPG
DJI_0008-03.JPG
DJI_0009.JPG
DJI_0010.JPG

etc... That makes it immediately apparent which files are single image photos and which are part of a bracketed set.

Any way to do this?

I don't think so. The only option is to restart the sequential names or continue in order. I end up looking at the EXIF data in Lightroom. The bracketed group will typically have about 5-7 seconds between each exposure (if you are in R+J) mode. Also, if you watch the exposures, they always follow the same pattern. For example, in a 3 bracket set you have them in the following order:

DJI_0232.DNG 1/2000
DJI_0233.DNG 1/3200
DJI_0234.DNG 1/1250

Hope that helps,
Chris

When you stick the card into your pc can you not sort them by date taken? I might be misunderstanding but would this not help?

You can't change the numbering in the Phantom
Here are thumbnails for bracket of five and their EXIF data

With a good thumbnail viewer, it's not too hard to sort things out and if you really want to renumber images, you can manually at that stage.

Use Lightroom to group photos based on time stamp and the AEB groups should stick together. Just have to adjust the time range

It is a good idea for a future update for the firmware. And I would recommend submitting it as a feature request to DJI.

But, it may be something that is too difficult to implement even though it seems simple. The part of the software that changes the exposure and "presses" the shutter button probably is separate from the part of the software that saves the image. But, I may be wrong and it might be something DJI can implement easily.
