Faster Time Lapse - 5 seconds too slow

Does anyone know what is the limiting factor that controls how quickly the P3 can take photos in time lapse mode. Currently it is set at 5 seconds, which is very slow for cameras. The P2V+ is a 14MP camera and could do 3 second intervals, which is much better for mapping purposes.

Surely a camera that can record in 4K has the processing power to take 12MP photos much quicker than every 5 seconds.

Is this just a software issue that DJI or a third party could change?

Cheers

Could it be your photo format settings (coupled with your SD card rating)? If you're photo-ing in JPG + RAW or just RAW it would take longer to write the files to disk, especially if it's not a really speedy card. Just a guess.

Yes but it should be able to shoot jpg at a higher rate, like every 2 or 3 seconds down from 5
