FAA number vs. I believe I read taking 107 test?

I have my FAA number and it is installed but can someone explain to me what the 107 test is for and does everyone need to take it?

Taking and passing the 107 exam is only required of those intending to fly commercially. If you are just flying for recreation, there is no need to take it.

If you are going to be flying for recreation, you will be flying under the rules of Part 101, but there is no test

And under part 101, you can use the same FAA number on all of your drones. You'll do a separate bird specific registration if/when you go commercial. But by that time, it should all make more sense to you.
