If I was an elephant, I wouldn't want to be chained either. Many of these elephants are rescues from the logging industry and are being restored back to health. So sad to see one of them with a lot of wounds from mahouts (elephant handlers) who poke them all the time with sharp metal hooks. The one I saw had her wounds covered with medication.
There are many plans for improvements at Luang Prabang Elephant Camp, but this takes resources and eco-tourism is one way to fund these upgrades. I hope my video helps.
