Complete newbie with lots of questions.

So I downloaded phantom 2 vision assistant software 2.0. There's no restrictions for that right? There was a 3.0, a 1.1 and a 1.1.9 also. Were one if those better?

Do not upgrade to 3.0 as it has flight restrictions.
1.1 is the Remote controller update, and it is safe to update that, you will need to connect your controller to a computer and use the RC assistant to upgrade. Some controllers have the usb port on the outside but the older ones have it on the inside requiring you to remove 4 screws and plug in the cable to the circuit board. Check youtube for a video.
1.1.9 is the camera upgrade, just download the file, place it on your camera sd card, turn off the camera, insert the sd card, then turn on the camera, it will update automatically. This is also a safe update and will give you DNG RAW format.
